The story of Kriya's begins at 5 AM in a small kitchen in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. A grandmother, stone grinder in hand, preparing the day's idly batter from scratch. The aroma of fermenting rice and urad dal, the rhythmic hum of grinding — these are the sensory memories that inspired our founder.
She watched her grandmother repeat this ritual every morning without fail. When she moved to the city, she missed it deeply. Instant mixes existed, but they all fell short — full of additives, lacking that authentic fermented taste, missing the nutrition of freshly ground batter.
So she created her own. And Kriya's was born.

We work directly with farmers in Tamil Nadu to source Karuppu Kavuni (black rice) — an ancient heritage grain that was once reserved for royalty. Rich in antioxidants, anthocyanins, and natural fibre.
Every batch is stone-milled in small quantities to preserve nutrients, aroma, and the authentic taste that no industrial process can replicate.
